Edmonds,
Washington artist Mary Anderson derives her colorful paintings from
the natural surroundings she has known all of her life in the Puget
Sound region. Whether in city parks, on mountain trails or salt water
beaches, she is always looking for inspiration for her paintings.
Now and then a house or farm building will be too appealing to pass
by, and become a subject for a painting.
Her work has been exhibited
in many juried regional art shows including The Edmonds Arts Festival,
The Mountlake Terrace Arts of the Terrace, The Kenmore Art Show
and in such public venues as the Lynnwood Library, the Everett Public
Library and Northwest Hospital. She received the People's Choice
Award in the 2006 Seattle Co-Arts Juried Show at Mercer View Gallery
on Mercer Island. Her entry in the Eastside Association of Fine
Arts show won an award for 2007.
She taught drawing and
other art media to children for several years. She has taught drawing
at Edmonds Community College and at ArtWorks, an Edmonds community
art center. She teaches watercolor classes at Shoreline Community
Center.
She is a member of Women
Painters of Washington and Seattle Co-Arts.
